Forums are a great place to get inspired and learn from others about all aspects of web design. Forums can help with sharing creative ideas, asking for help with a specific problem or to networking with potential clients and colleagues.
However, there is no shortage of choice when it comes to finding your online home. To get you started here are five web design forums I find myself using from time to time.
SitePoint is one of the largest and most high profile online communities specifically targeting web developers and designers.
Web Designer Forum has an active and friendly community popular amongst UK-based web designers and developers.
Veering towards the more technical side of web development, Webmaster World has an active community with a wealth of knowledge and experience.
With a slightly more creativity/graphic design bias, this is a friendly place to find help and enjoy a bit of banter whilst you’re at it.
Very popular design forum, with active web design and development sections.
Are you a member of any of the above communities? How have you found your experience with them? Can you recommend any web design forums that I haven’t mentioned above?
I must say Estetica Design Forum is the place to be; I’m addicted!
As a budding designer it is a great place to hang out with experienced and new designers, get advice and share influences and inspirations.
10 out of 10 from me!
I post on both Estetica Design Forum and Webmaster World and I must say both are excellent forums. Estetica Design is much better for actual web design information and help where webmaster world has a great knowledge base of SEO techniques.
If you want my advice? Designers join Estetica Design Forum, Webmasters join both!
Caroline – Hi, thanks for commenting. I joined Estetica a couple of weeks ago but have only managed to post a handful of times. I’m trying to make it part of my daily routine to do a bit of ‘foruming’ so make sure you say HI if you see me around
Craig – I agree Webmaster World is a lot more technical than Estetica. I’m not actually an active WW poster but I don’t think there is any site where I lurk more. Whenever I Google to try and find the answer to some obscure problem I nearly always find myself reading a WW discussion.
Estetica is my favourite home page, I’m on it every day. It’s such a friendly place, always busy and full of extremely talented people from all areas of design
Hi, thanks for commenting. Really abobe forums sitepoint , webmasterworld, webdesigners fourms are really good and a designer must be a part of those forums which helps you to be exactly designer
You may wish to check out Webforumz.com – it’s not the biggest of sites, but still very pleasant, friendly and helpful.

Last week I asked the question on Twitter, “What HTML element do you use for each line of a form? P, DIV, or something else?” So, how do you do your forms?
This years season of 24 ways article has come to a close and with it a reoccurring theme of controversy has arisen: designing in the browser. I offer my thoughts on why it misses the point.
The problem with CSS pre-processing frameworks is that they don’t really fit within the average web designers’ work flow. So I built an extension to LESS for creating cached stylesheets your PHP projects can use.
Are you a web designer or are you a web developer? Let me guess, you are a bit of both. Does that mean you are “doing it wrong”?
