In case you somehow missed it, my name is Aaron Russell. I am a freelance web/graphic designer and multimedia creative. This site is my online portfolio where I promote my freelance and consultative services. I also use this site to blog about design, the Internet, creativity and generally share my thoughts and ideas about the industry in which I work.
All about me
I’ve been creating websites for a long time. Almost twelve years to be precise. As a young man absolutely fascinated by the Internet, in 1997 I taught myself HTML knowing that one day the Internet would be my future.
Professionally I have a marketing background. I used to be a brand and marketing manager for a large government agency and I spent a number of very happy years working with designers creating all sorts of things: from brochures, to magazines, to posters and pamphlets, and also online digital projects.
I loved working on all these creative projects and I loved working with designers. So I decided I would be a designer too. I went to art college as a mature student and retrained. I qualified with distinction in multimedia design.
Since then I have left my permanent job in marketing and have steadily been building a client base and developing a strong reputation as a freelance web and graphic designer.
Now as an established freelance professional I offer my clients a unique combination of creative, technical and marketing skills.
All about the blog
This site is also my personal journal or blog. I am also the author of the popular miLienzo.com which in the space of a year I took from a daft idea in my head to one of the Internet’s top 50 graphic design blogs.
I blog because it’s a great way for you to find out about me, my work processes and the way I think and talk about design and creativity. It is also a great way for me to share with you what I have learnt over the years, and likewise for me to learn from you. Through blogging I connect with people: with clients, with colleagues, with friends.
